Rest and Recovery

After one amazing vacation some rest and recovery was absolutely necessary. That is exactly what I did all day Sunday...rest and recover. Everyone spent the entire day hanging out with each other and sharing more stories about the adventures we had had on our separate trips. Although the very first thing we did when we woke up was go grocery shopping! All of our fridges were empty and we were hungry when we woke up. We did sleep in but not as late as I expected that I would. I ended up getting up a little after 10:00. After we got our groceries we filled our bellies with lunch and continued to just enjoy each others company.

In the afternoon us girlies had a good time watching The Last Song together. We cried and laughed a little and it made for the perfect afternoon :) Throughout the day we all did laundry and began the process of unpacking which is never really fun. The best part about being home was getting to wear clean clothes though! Definitely something we had all been looking forward to! Being able to cook our own food was also a treat. A ten day vacation is really a long time to be away from the comfort of your own home. On this trip that's what I discovered as well...London truly was home. Once we got back it felt like home because I realized how much I actually fit in. Before break I had felt like an outsider still but once we got back I realized how much I had grown accustomed to where we were living and become a part of the community. I think it took going to other parts of the world to realize how much I had really learned about London. Its such a great feeling to have.

Another thing I learned about being able to call London my home is that its okay to venture off on my own. Before going on our break I had done everything with other people. Not because we have to but because it was convenient and I felt safe that way. When I got back I realized that I would never think that way at home. At home I go to the grocery store by myself all the time, take a walk, etc. Now that I've come to this realization I want to explore this new feeling of being able to venture out on my own.

Coming home from break sure did make us appreciate a lot of things more and realize what we had taken for granted! The tube was definitely one of those things. We got to experience the equivalent of the tube in each different country and it sure made me love the tube. Although the tube can be a drag sometimes because it takes so long to get places it gets you right where you need to go and we did not have that luxury in Rome or Athens. I love that I have learned to appreciate it a little more because I was beginning to hate it!

Sunday was a great day even though we really did nothing at all. It was absolutely wonderful spending time with each other in our flat after being gone for so long. Makes you realize how much you miss people once you actually see them again. Definitely got me excited to see my family when I return but also reminded me that I have to cherish the little time I have left here.
