Day 9 - Relaxation

Friday started out the best way a day can…with an awesome breakfast. The owner and another lady went all out for us. We are pretty sure we were the only ones staying at the hotel but they still set everything out for us. We had a huge selection to choose from including several types of freshly made bread, yogurt, cereal, eggs, some meat and cheese, peaches and what appeared to be homemade jam. We also had juice, water, and coffee. This was quite the setup for only being the four of us! It was really nice having a big breakfast to start off the day.

When we finished eating it was time to explore the island. We walked around, sat by the water, took pictures, and enjoyed the scenery. My favorite part of the day was when we went down to the water and put our feet in. The water was incredibly warm and for once I actually wanted to get in! Our whole goal of the day was to just relax and really not have a care in the world. It was the firs time since we got to London where we didn’t have to worry what time it was or about getting anywhere at a certain time and it was great! The day started out a little cloudy but by the afternoon the sun was shining bright.

The morning went by without us thinking about the time at all. Then Jeana and I started to get hungry so we eventually checked our watches only to find out it was almost 2:30! No wonder we were hungry! We headed back to our hotel to make ourselves some lunch (aka peanut butter and jelly). On the way we stopped at one of the bakeries and got ourselves some goodies…baklava and some other cookie. They were really tasty treats. I don’t think I have ever had baklava before. I really liked it but it was super sweet.

After lunch we went in search of a spot where we could just sit and soak in the nice weather. During the morning we had only walked on one side of the island so we headed out the other direction. We found a really nice spot at the top of a hill where we decided to sit. I wrote in my journal while Jeana read her book. Time passed without either of us really paying any attention. At one point we both began to wonder how it was possible we hadn’t seen Tyra and Jordan in so long since it was such a small island. Not long after we thought this they appeared. They shared their afternoon adventures with us and then we all decided to head out to dinner.

We really wanted to see the sunset so we went to Sunset restaurant. The whole time we ate dinner we got to enjoy spectacular views. The restaurant we ate at actually got second place in NBC’s most beautiful views contest! Pretty cool and very easy to understand why they got second place. It was sort of cloudy out but it was still extremely beautiful! As we enjoyed yet another great meal we had a nice little kitty visitor who tried to walk on our table. Cats were all over Hydra, but besides dinner they didn’t bother us. After dinner we decided to head back to our hotel. We sat outside in front of the hostel and played some card games and then just talked. It was a great way to end our very last night of vacation!
