Diwanis

Lyndon recommend a vegetarian Thai restaurant to us in class one day. On Friday we decided it was time to try it out. We went for the buffet because we figured that would enable us to try a lot of different things. It ended up taking us a while to find the place because we walked quite a ways in the wrong direction at first. The good news is by the time we found it we were more than ready to eat!

It was a cute little place with very friendly staff. They loved us for some reason but we weren’t about to complain about that! Sometimes people are fascinated with us because we are American. The great part about the buffet is that it is all vegetarian so I didn’t have to worry at all about what I was eating. Thank goodness because nothing was labeled! Going for the buffet was a great decision because there is no way I would have been able to pick something off a menu. We all tried a little of everything on the buffet. There were honestly only a few items I didn’t like which surprise me a bit. I definitely tried a lot of things I probably wouldn’t have previously and am so glad I did because it was delicious! Some of it was quite hot but that’s what the bread and water were for! The only bummer about the buffet is that nothing was labeled so I have no clue what I was eating to order it again. The place was great and I would definitely recommend it as well!

After filling ourselves up we decided to go explore Harrods. On our way we detoured. We were only a stop away from king’s Cross train station where Platform 9 ¾ from Harry Potter is so we stopped there! At first we went to the wrong station. None of us wanted to ask where it was because its such a touristy thing but I finally went in and asked. The first person we asked had to ask him boss. As we left we heard him telling his employee he got that question a lot which we found pretty funny!

We headed to the right place then but when we got there we didn’t see it either. We thought we were in the right area because we were between platforms nine and ten. Apparently we aren’t the only ones who look for the platform because the train driver stuck his head out of the train and asked us if we were looking for platform 9 ¾. It was kind of funny that everyone seemed to know what we were doing! We finally made it there and had fun being silly taking our pictures. As we left another person asked if we were looking for the platform! We told them we had already found it but we were obviously looking like tourists! It only made the experience more fun though.

We were then on our way to Harrods. As we walked there we stopped in a few other places. We spent a few hours in Harrods and barely covered anything! I think we have no gone through the first few floors but I’m sure we’ll go back again as there is just so much to explore! It had a lot of Christmas decorations up already but we want to go back right before we leave and see if they put anymore up. A lot of Christmas festivities are beginning soon and I can’t wait! I love big cities at Christmas time. After exploring for a while we headed home. We had planned to go out that evening as it was Halloween weekend but we decided to stay in and watch a movie instead. We had big plans for the morning and we wanted to be well rested to enjoy them.
