After being spoiled by getting to sleep in the last two days, it made getting up for class on Thursday a challenge. I got my sleepy self to class though. Thursday health classes are always really enjoyable to me though. This week we focused on nutrition. We talked about a lot of the comparisons between American and British health. These are always my favorite topics because it’s fun to see the similarities and differences of our cultures. Food in particular is interesting because it is really different. I am actually really dreading going back to all our overly processed foods. I love being able to cook my own food so dorm food is being dreaded for next semester. Our class was really interesting though and helped me realize what to eat more/less of. We did a fun jeopardy game that had questions about fast food restaurants. The answer never seem to be what we expected which was the whole point but a good one.
When class was over it was time for another walk. Our walk was scheduled for the St. Paul’s area. As we were walking we saw that there was obviously something big going on. We later discovered this was the grand opening of a new gigantic mall. We struggled our way through the crowds and cameras but eventually all made it out. It was quite the sight to see and yet another fun find on our walks. We all decided we’ll have to go check it out again when it’s not as crazy. We finished our walk at St. Paul’s and then headed home.
Once we got back we got the final items we needed for the party then headed home to get the flat all ready. We were all pretty exhausted and each ended up taking about an hour nap to refresh ourselves. When we got up we decked out the flat and got all our party games setup in preparation for the boy’s arrival. Denise brought them over around 5:30 for the festivities to begin. We had an absolute blast together. We decorated some candy, bobbed for apples, had balloon wars, had food guessing contests, decorated pumpkins, had a cupcake eating contest and ate lots of candy! It was a great way to get in the Halloween spirit and start off the weekend.
When the boys left around 8:30 we were completely wiped out! It was well worth it though. We seriously debated following through with our evening plans. Then we figured we could sleep in the next day so we might as well go. Our plan was to go to The Roxy because Thursday nights are 80’s nights. We got ready real fast and headed out. The place was pretty empty when we got there but quickly picked up. The place was really cool but not exactly our age range which makes sense being 80s night and all. The people were probably 30 on average but there were people our age as well. We hung out for a few hours and had a good time but decided to head home early. I’m really glad we went through because it was something we really wanted to do and we don’t have any more free Thursdays as weird as that is to say! Thursday was a great start to our fun filled weekend though!
