Today was the day: I was going to get to see my parents after almost 3 months apart! This made me quite antsy and I was probably not fun to travel home with since I just wanted to get there, but Jeana and Rebecca graciously put up with me :) We decided to take a cab to the airport because we did not want to deal with the 25 minute walk downtown and then catch the bus since it would be nearly the same amount. We ended up getting super lucky and as soon as we left Sara's flat we ran into a cab that was willing to take us to the airport! The day was starting off well!
Once we got to the airport we got through security really easily and had plenty of time to spare. We sat around until our gate was called and then we were finally able to board our plane. Our luck continued as our plane landed early. We rushed to the easybus to try and catch the early one...we made it and were able to get on! I was super happy about this as it got me home over a half hour earlier than I expected.
After our hour and twenty minute easy bus back to London I hopped on the tube and headed back to my flat to drop off my stuff and go meet up with my parents. We decided to meet at Paddington station as they were already out and about. As luck has it just as I was walking up the stairs I spotted them and ran (and might have cut a few people off in the process, but I hadn't seen my parents in 3 months, they can forgive me :)) through the gates to them! It was great to see them and also so weird that they were actually in London! I was so happy they were going to get to experience the place I had come to absolutely love!
Our first mission was to find a place to eat. We were going to head to Covent Garden but I forgot my map and was struggling with my sense of direction. We did eventually get there but not before we were starved and had to just stop and eat. We ate a nice little pub and my parents got to experience bangers and mash (sausage and potatoes). After dinner we walked around a bit but they were absolutely exhausted so we headed back to the flat where they were staying for the night. As I hadn't seen everyone all weekend we had a nice little reunion. The girls on the fourth floor all did face masks while my parents took our pictures as we did silly poses. It was a perfect way to end a great weekend with only more fun in store for our final week in London with my parents nonetheless!
