For our final Wednesday outing we headed to St. Paul's to start our day. After going on a tour of the church with Phillipa as our guide, we began the climb up the stairs for an incredible view of the city. This is one of the thigns I was really looking forward to doing in London so I was happy we all got to do it together!
There were three different levels you could climb. The first level was inside and gave you a great view of the church. On this level you could actually speak into the wall and people on the other side could hear you. It didn't work perfectly, but we got it to work a few times!
On our way to the next level there is a little glass box where you can look down and see how high up you are which was really neat! The next two level were outside where we got really great views of the city. It was a beautiful day which made the views even better.
After we all had our fair share of views of the city we ended our tour of St. Paul's and took a break for lunch. Pretty much all of us headed next door to grab some pizza and finally got to use our taste cards :)
We met back up in front of St. Paul's to begin our afternoon tour of "American's in London." Phillipa took us around the city showing us America's impact on the city. It was a fun way to wrap up our Wednesday outings.
When we finished the tour we headed back to the flats where my parnets met up with us and I cooked them some dinner before they headed out on their own for the evening. After they left we began to get ready for our final party which was taking place at the pub next door, The Queen's Arms. It couldn't have been more fitting as it was our first meal in London and now one of our last :( It is seriously unbelievable that it is almost over. No doubt it has been the greatest three months of my life and it was a once in a lifetime experience that I am so blessed to have participated in!
Our final party was lots of fun. All of our professors were there. We all ate dinner and Philipa's husband put on a little magic show for us. Then the hard part began as we passed out the gifts we made for our professors and began our goodbyes. To lighten the mood we began to give each other our certificates (we each drew out a name and had to come up with an award for them). It was hysterical listening to everyones awards and definitely a great way to recap some of the trips best memories.
The party was an excellent way to wrap up our experience together. Even though it was bittersweet, these people will always hold a special place in my heart as we head back home and go back to life as we've always known it. I know life will never be the same for me after this experience and althought its sad to leave, I'm excited for what else is ahead!
